Analysis of the effects of contact condition variations in cable terminations on current density and temperature distribution in MVDC distribution systems = MVDC 배전 시스템에서의 종단 접속재 접촉 상태 변화가 전류 밀도 및 온도 분포에 미치는 영향 분석
This study investigates the effects of contact failure in cable terminations on the electrical and thermal characteristics a edium-oltage irect urrent (MVDC) system. A multiphysics finite element analysis was conducted using ANSYS to evaluate current density and temperature distribution. The results indicate that angular misalignment significantly increaselocal current densityup to 57% higher than thnormal conditionto current concentration resulting from a reduced contact area. Furthermore, when the separation distance exceedapproximately 0.65 mm, a steep temperature increase was observed, with a maximum temperature increase of over 100% compared the normal case. These findings highlight critical thresholds beyond which thermal degradation and electrical failure may occur. By quantitatively analyzing the contact conditions, this offers a practical diagnostic reference for identifying and preventing defects in MVDC cable terminations. The proposed approach provides a basis for reliability assessment and design optimization under actual operating conditions next-generation DC distribution systems.
