본 연구는 뮤지컬 <틱틱붐>(2001)과 뮤지컬 영화 <틱틱붐>(2021)을 심층적으로 비교·분석함으로써, 각 매체가 지닌 서사 구조, 미학적 특성, 그리고 ‘시간의 압박’이라는 주제의 표현 방식에서 어떻게 차별성을 드러내는지 고찰하였다. 원작 분석을 위해 오리지널 대본과 악보, 2024년 국내 공연 번역본을 주요 자료로 삼았으며, 2024년 국내에서 공연된 뮤지컬 <틱틱붐>의 무대 구현과 연출 방식을 반복적으로 모니터링하여 현장 중심의 구체적 분석을 수행하였다. 뮤지컬 영화의 경우, 내러티브 구조, 미장센, 음악, 편집기법 등 다양한 영화적 요소를 면밀히 분석하였다. 이 과정에서 원작과 뮤지컬 영화의 주요 장면들을 중심으로, 시간의 압박이 어떻게 상징적으로 구현되고 연출되는지 비교했으며, 특히 뮤지컬 영화에서 새롭게 추가된 장면과 음악이 서사와 인물의 내면적 변화, 그리고 시간성 연출에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 밝혔다. 그 결과 , 뮤지컬 영화는 원작의 핵심 줄거리를 따르면서도, 새롭게 추가된 음악과 영상적 기법을 적극적으로 활용하여 다층적이고 감각적인 내러티브를 완성하였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 매체적 접근은 관객이 시간의 압박이라는 주제를 보다 풍부하고 입체적으로 경험할 수 있게 한다. 음악적 측면에서도 곡 배열과 장르 변주를 통해 매체별 감정 흐름과 극적 긴장감을 최적화하였으며, 오프닝과 클로징 넘버의 동일한 배치는 시간의 압박과 극복, 예술가의 정체성 메시지를 일관되게 전달하는 데 기여하였다. 본 연구는 무대와 영상이라는 상이한 예술 양식이 동일한 주제를 얼마나 다르게 서사화하고 표현하는지 실증적으로 탐구했다는 점에서 의의를 지닌다. 본 연구에서 밝힌 것과 같이 뮤지컬의 영상화, 매체 변용에 대한 후속 연구 및 예술적·사회적 함의에 대한 논의가 활발하게 이어지길 기대한다.
