마가복음 4장에서 주된 역할을 하는 것은 “씨뿌리는” 비유다. 그 못지않게 중요한 것은 그 비유와 밀접하게 연결된 “되질” 논변이다: “여러분이 사용하는 바로 그 척도가 여러분에게 무얼 달아서 건넬 때 사용될 것이고, 받을 때는 뭘 더 얹어 받을 것입니다”(막 4:24).

이 글의 목표는 막 4:1-34의 맥락에서 이 “되질” 논변의 수사학적 함의를 밝히는 것이다. 이 글은 문제의 논변에서 ‘전도된 수사’를 읽는다. “되질” 논변은 ‘전도된 수사’라는 수사의 새로운 지평을 연다—청자를 수사의 주체로 삼는다.

It is the Parable of the Sower that plays key role in the Gospel of Mark 4. Not less important is the “measure for measure” argument that is linked closely with the Parable: “With the measure you use, it will be measured to you, and it will be added to you.”(Mark 4:24) The goal of this article is to clarify the rhetorical implications of the “measure for measure” argument in the context of Mark 4:1-34. The point is the ‘reverse rhetoric’ of the argument. The “measure for measure” argument opens a new horizon in rhetoric called ‘reverse rhetoric’—it regards the audience as the agent of the rhetoric.
