다문화가정 자녀의 군 복무가 증가하고 있으나, 이들에 대한 차별과 배제는 여전히 심각하다. 2025년 발생한 다문화 병사 사건을 계기로, 다문화 병사가 경험한 낙인·고립·갈등·극단화 과정을 탐색하고자 다문화사회 전문가, 예비역 간부, 상담사 등 6인을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 인터뷰(FGI)를 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 다문화 병사의 고립은 지휘관과 동료의 인식 부족과 외모·언어 차이에 따른 조롱, 제도적 지원 부재 등 구조적 요인에서 비롯되었다. 둘째, 다문화 병사의 배제 경험은 자기 낙인과 정체성 혼란을 심화시켜 극단적 행동의 위험성을 높였다. 셋째, 군의 위계적·폐쇄적 환경은 심리적 취약성을 증폭시켜 조직 응집력 약화를 초래하였다. 이에 본 연구는 ① 다문화 인식 교육 제도화 ② 공동체 활동 강화 ③ 심리상담 지원 확대 ④ 피해자 보호체계 확립 등을 대안으로 제시하였다.
