Purpose – This study analyzes changes in wellness tourism discourse in South Korea using semantic network analysis of online text across three COVID-19 phases.
Design, data, and methodology – Text data were collected from major Korean portals using wellness tourism-related keywords. Text mining techniques—including TF-IDF, centrality, and CONCOR analysis—were applied to analyze discourse structures by phase.
Result – In Phase 1 (pre-pandemic), discourse focused on healing and nature-based relaxation. During Phase 2 (pandemic), themes shifted toward safety and hygiene. Phase 3 (post-pandemic) reflected broader values such as lifestyle transformation and cultural experience, indicating a diversification in wellness tourism discourse.
Conclusions – This study demonstrates the effectiveness of semantic network analysis in capturing shifts in tourism discourse, offering insights into changing consumer perceptions and wellness trends. Limitations include the use of domestic data and a brief post-pandemic phase. Future research should consider broader datasets and international contexts.*표시는 필수 입력사항입니다.
