대학생의 계획된 우연이 진로결정에 미치는 영향:진로탐색행동의 매개 역할

연구 목적: 이 연구는 대학생의 계획된 우연이 진로탐색행동을 매개로 진로결정에 미치는 영향을 분석하여 세 변인 간에 경로 모형을 확인하는 데 목적이 있다. 특히 계획된 우연_진로탐색행동_진로결정의 발달적 경로를 통합적으로 검증함으로써, 기존 연구에서 제한적으로 다루어졌던 변인 간 연결구조와 작동 메커니즘을 보완하고자 하였다. 이를 통해 진로결정 과정에서 계획된 우연 경험의 이론적·실천적 역할을 실증적으로 확인하고, 진로교육 및 상담 분야에서의 적용 가능성을 탐색하고자 하였다.

연구 방법: 연구 대상은 전국 4년제 대학 재학생 687명이며, 2025년 5월 14일부터 5월 31일까지 온라인 설문조사를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 불성실 응답 55부를 제외한 총 632부를 최종 분석에 활용하였다. 자료 분석을 위해 SPSS 25.0과 AMOS 24.0을 사용하여 경로모형을 적용하였으며, bootstrapping을 통해 수행하여 매개효과의 타당성을 검증하였다.

연구 내용: 분석 결과, 첫째, 계획된 우연은 진로탐색행동(β=.988)과 진로결정(β=.631)에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째, 진로탐색행동은 계획된 우연과 진로결정 간의 관계를 유의하게 부분 매개하였다.

결론 및 제언: 이 연구는 계획된 우연_진로탐색_진로결정의 경로모형을 실증적으로 제시함으로써 우연을 기회로 해석하려는 태도가 실제 탐색행동을 통해 진로결정의 구체성과 확실성으로 이어지는 과정을 확인하였다. 연구결과를 기반으로 대학생들의 진로교육 및 상담에서는 계획된 우연 촉진을 위한 태도 기반 개입과 탐색 행동 증진 프로그램을 단계적으로 연계하는 개입 설계가 필요함을 시사하는 바이다.

The Effect of Planned Happenstance on Career Decision-making Among University Students:The Mediating Role of Career Exploration Behavior

Abstract: This study analyzed the effect of planned happenstance on career decision-making among university students, focusing on the mediating role of career exploration behavior, and aimed to identify the path model among the three variables. The purpose was to empirically verify the developmental pathway linking planned happenstance, career exploration behavior, and career decision-making, thereby supplementing the limited understanding of the structural mechanism and interconnectedness of these variables in previous research. Through this verification, the study sought to clarify the theoretical and practical role of planned happenstance experiences in the career decision-making process and to explore the applicability of the results to career education and counseling. The participants were 687 university students enrolled in four-year institutions across Korea, and data were collected through an online survey conducted from May 14 to May 31, 2025. After excluding 55 insincere or incomplete responses, a total of 632 responses were used for the final analysis. Path analysis was conducted using SPSS 25.0 and AMOS 24.0, and the validity of the mediating effect was confirmed through Bootstrapping procedures. The results showed that planned happenstance had significant positive effects on career exploration behavior (β=.988) and career decision-making (β=.631). In addition, career exploration behavior significantly partially mediated the relationship between planned happenstance and career decision-making. This study empirically demonstrated the path model of planned happenstance-career exploration behavior- career decision-making, confirming that an attitude of interpreting unplanned events as opportunities leads to practical exploration activities, which consequently enhance the clarity and certainty of career decisions. Based on these findings, the study suggests that career education and counseling for university students should adopt a sequential intervention design that first promotes attitudes related to planned happenstance and subsequently reinforces exploration- oriented behavioral programs.
