본 연구는 넷플릭스 오리지널 애니메이션 영화 ‘케이팝 데몬 헌터스’를 대상으로, 서사 구조의 변화에 따라 색채가 수행하는 기능과 감정적 상징을 정량적으로 규명하였다. 최근 K-콘텐츠의 글로벌 확산으로 시각적 스토리텔링의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 그러나 색채를 서사 구조와 연계하여 객관적 데이터로 실증한 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 영화 전체를 43개의 주요 씬으로 분할하여 도입·중간·결말의 3막 구조로 재구성하고, 각 서사 단계를 대표하는 9개의 핵심 키프레임을 선정하였다. 특히 분석의 객관성을 확보하기 위해 서사 주체 중심의 배경 단순화 전처리를 수행한 후, Python 기반의 K-means 군집화 알고리즘을 적용하여 주요 색상을 RGB 값으로 추출하였다. 도출된 색채 데이터를 IRI 이미지 스케일에 적용하여 분석한 결과, 도입부의 색채는 안정과 불안이 공존하는 분산된 양상을 보였다. 반면, 갈등이 고조되는 중간부에서는 ‘딱딱한(Hard)’ 감성 영역으로 급격히 수렴하며 서사적 긴장을 시각화하였고, 결말부에서는 다시 ‘부드러운(Soft)’ 영역으로 회귀하며 갈등의 해소와 정서적 안정을 명확히 드러냈다. 이러한 결과는 색채가 단순한 심미적 요소를 넘어 서사의 감정선과 긴장 구조를 조직하는 핵심적인 시각 언어임을 입증하며, 향후 글로벌 콘텐츠 제작에 있어 서사 단계별 색채 전략을 수립하는데 유의미한 객관적 참고자료가 될 것이다.

This study quantitatively analyzes the narrative functions and emotional symbolism of color in the Netflix original animated film, K-Pop: Demon Hunters, based on its narrative structure. Despite the growing emphasis on visual storytelling alongside the global expansion of K-content, empirical research analyzing color in relation to narrative structure using objective data remains insufficient. To address this, the film's 43 distinct scenes were reorganized into a three-act structure (Introduction, Middle, and End), and 9 representative keyframes were selected for each narrative phase. To ensure objectivity, background simplification preprocessing was performed to focus on narrative subjects, followed by the extraction of dominant RGB colors using a Python-based K-means clustering algorithm. The extracted color data were mapped onto the IRI Image Scale to trace emotional trajectories. The results indicate that while colors in the introduction were dispersed, reflecting a coexistence of stability and anxiety, they sharply converged into the "Hard" quadrant during the middle act, visualizing heightened narrative tension. Subsequently, the resolution phase demonstrated a return to the "Soft" quadrant, clearly signifying conflict resolution and the restoration of emotional stability. These findings empirically confirm that color functions not merely as an aesthetic decoration but as a core visual language that organizes emotional arcs and narrative tension. This study provides data-driven criteria for establishing color strategies corresponding to narrative stages in global content production.
