초등 음악교육은 학습자의 발달 단계에 맞춰 감성 역량과 창의 역량을 기를 수 있는 수업을 다각화하여 시도할 필요가 있다. 감수성이 한창 발달하는 이 시기에 교실에서의 감상 수업이 단순히 음악을 듣는 활동에 그치는 경우가 많아 학습자의 능동적인 참여와 음악이 주는 즐거움을 경험하기에 부족한 실태이다. 이에 타 교과를 융합하여 학생들이 직접 참여하는 프로젝트형 수업 방식을 도입해 폭넓은 심미적 경험을 끌어내고 감성·창의 역량을 기르는데 도움이 되고자 한다.

본 연구는 학생들이 조금 낯설어 할 수 있는 종묘제례악을 주제로 국어, 사회, 미술, 체육, 창의적 체험활동을 융합하여 국악 프로젝트 수업을 설계하고 운영해 보았다. 종합 예술의 성격을 지닌 종묘제례악은 세계 문화유산으로 그 가치를 인정받았음에도 우리의 일상 속에서 쉽게 듣고 즐길 수 있는 음악이 아니기에 조금 낯설게 느끼는 경향이 있다. 이번 기회를 통해 우리 음악 문화에 대한 이해를 높이는 것은 물론 문화유산을 소중히여기는 마음도 함께 함양할 수 있을 것으로 판단하였다. 또한 2022 개정 음악과 교육과정에 담긴 교과 역량에대한 제고를 통해 음악교육이 추구하는 핵심역량을 강화에 초점을 맞춘 프로젝트를 구성하고, 미래 사회를 살아갈 학생들에게 유연한 사고의 가치를 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공하고자 하였다.

이번 프로젝트를 통해 초등학교 음악 수업 시간에 학생들이 주도적으로 참여하고, 한층 친근하게 종묘제례악을 익힐 수 있는 교육적 기초 자료를 마련코자 하였다. 학생들은 감성 역량과 창의성 역량 함양을 위한 다양한 아이디어를 만들고 친구들과 어울려 협동 학습을 완성하였다. 다만 해당 연구는 서울 소재 G초등학교 5학년 총 19명의 학생들과 제한된 환경에서 진행한 것이기에 일반적으로 적용하는데 한계가 있음을 밝힌다.
