최근 외국인 유학생들의 한국어 학습 수요가 급격히 증가함에 따라, 한국 내 대학에서의 외국인 유학생 특히 중국인 유학생을 대상으로 한 한국어 교육의 효과성 향상이 중요한 교육적 이슈로 부상하고 있다. 교육부(2025) 통계에 따르면, 2024년 기준 국내 외국인 유학생은 약 25.3만명이고 그 중 40% 이상이 중국 국적이다. 외국인 유학생들의 어학연수와 정규 학위 과정 모두에서 한국어 능력 향상을 위한 지속적인 노력이 이루어지고 있으며, 다수를 차지하고 있는 중국인 유학생을 대상으로 한국어 교육의 효과성 제고가 필요한 상황이다. 본 연구는 국내 대학에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생을 대상으로, 한국어 교육이 학습자의 자기개념, 정서지능, 자기표현을 매개로 교육목표 달성에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 연구는 2024년 10월 한 달간 온라인 설문을 통해 유효 표본 314명을 대상으로 실시하였으며, 다중회귀분석과 구조방정식 모형(SEM)을 활용하여 변수 간 관계를 심층 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 자기개념의 하위요인 중 신체적 강인함, 유능감, 신체적 자아존중감이 모두 자기표현에 유의한 정적 영향을 미쳤으며, 특히 신체적 강인함의 영향력이 가장 높게 나타났다. 또한 정서지능의 하위요인 중 공감능력과 감정 인식 및 표현 능력이 자기표현에 강한 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 연구 결과를 바탕으로 학습자의 심리적 요인이 학습 성과와 밀접하게 연관되어 있음을 실증적으로 확인할 수 있었고, 향후 학습자 중심의 교수·학습 전략 및 교육과정 설계에 실질적 시사점을 제공하였다.

Recent surges in demand for Korean language learning among international students, particularly Chinese students in South Korea, have made improving the effectiveness of Korean language education a critical educational issue within domestic universities. According to Ministry of Education (2025) statistics, approximately 253,000 foreign students resided in South Korea in 2024, with more than 40% being Chinese nationals. These international students, including both language trainees and full-degree seekers, are continuously striving to improve their Korean proficiency. Given the large proportion of Chinese students, enhancing the effectiveness of Korean language education for this group is imperative. This study empirically analyzed how Korean language education affects educational goal achievement via learners’ self-concept, emotional intelligence, and self-expression among Chinese international students enrolled in Korean universities. The research was conducted through an online survey in October 2024, with 314 valid responses analyzed using multiple regression and structural equation modeling (SEM) to explore the relationships among the variables. Results showed that sub-factors of self-concept, including physical strength, competence, and physical self-worth, had significant positive effects on self-expression, with physical strength exerting the strongest influence. Furthermore, emotional intelligence sub-factors of empathy and emotional perception and expression were found to strongly affect self-expression. These findings empirically confirm that learners’ psychological factors are closely related to learning outcomes, providing practical implications for learner-centered teaching strategies and curriculum design.
