Der Aufsatz untersucht Hegels Begriff der Versöhnung als Hegels Versuch einer Antwort auf das Problem des Leidens und der Gerechtigkeit in der Welt. Ausgangspunkt ist die verbreitete Kritik, Hegels These von der „Vernünftigkeit der Wirklichkeit“ sei ein skandalöser Optimismus, der das Leiden der Geschichte rechtfertige. Dem wird eine wohlwollendere metaphysische Lesart entgegengesetzt. Im Vergleich zu Kants Postulatenlehre zeigt sich, dass Hegel keine Immanentisierung des Ethischen anstrebt, sondern eine spekulative Einheit von Sein und Sollen, in der das wahre Wirkliche, aber nicht alle Realität, als Versöhnung der Wirklichkeit mit dem Absoluten gelten kann. Der Text argumentiert, dass eine nicht-metaphysische, naturalistische Deutung Hegels notwendig zu Fehlurteilen über seinen Versöhnungsbegriff führt. Hegels Begriff der Versöhnung kann somit auch als hermeneutischer Probierstein der Hegelinterpretation verstanden werden.

The paper examines Hegel’s concept of reconciliation as the core of his philosophy and as his attempt to respond to the problem of suffering and justice in the world. It takes as its starting point the widespread criticism that Hegel’s claim of the “rationality of reality” represents a scandalous optimism that justifies historical suffering. Against this, the paper proposes a more charitable, metaphysical reading. In contrast to Kant’s doctrine of postulates, it argues that Hegel does not aim at an immanent moralization of reality but at a speculative unity of being and ought, in which the truly actual—though not all that exists—can be understood as the reconciliation of actuality with the Absolute. The paper contends that non-metaphysical or naturalistic interpretations of Hegel inevitably misjudge his notion of reconciliation. Hegel’s concept of reconciliation thus serves as a hermeneutic touchstone for interpreting his entire philosophical system.
