본 연구는 K지역 내 영아 교사의 놀이 지원 경험과 놀이 지원에 따른 어려움을 탐색하여 지역 내 맞춤형 영아 놀이 지원 촉진 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구는 K지역 관내 영아반 교사 14명을 대상으로 심층 면담을 통해 질적으로 분석하였다. 영아 교사의 놀이 지원의 경험을 알아본 결과, 첫째 조부모, 지역사회와 함께하는 애착 및 사회·정서 발달 중심의 놀이 지원, 지역의 자연 친화적 환경을 활용하는 놀이 지원, 영아 놀이의 자율성 존중과 반응적인 놀이 지원으로 나타났다. 둘째, 영아의 놀이 지원에서 경험하는 교사의 어려움으로 영아 발달 및 놀이 지도 전문 지식의 한계, 개인차 고려 및 환경 구성의 현실적 어려움, 영아 눈높이에 맞는 외부 환경의 부재로 도출되었다. 이에 영아 발달 및 개인차를 고려한 놀이 지도 전문 지식에 관한 교사교육과 부모 교육, 지역 맞춤형 영아 놀이 환경 마련 등이 필요함을 시사한다.
