Q방법론을 적용한 웰니스 관광에 대한 주관성 연구 : 템플스테이 체험자를 대상으로 = A study on subjective perceptions of wellness tourism using Q methodology : focusing on temple stay participants
This study aims to examine the subjective perceptions of wellness tourism on temple stay participants using Q methodology. As wellness tourism continues to expand, temple stays have gained attention as a representative form of wellness-oriented cultural tourism; however, limited research has explored participants’ subjective meanings of such experiences. To address this gap, 36 Q statements were developed based on literature review and qualitative materials, and Q sorting was conducted with 36 individuals who had participated in temple stay programs. Factor analysis identified six distinct perception types: Digital Detox, Self-Reflection, Escape from Daily Life and Immersion in Nature, Mind–Body Recovery, Cultural Experience, and Relational Bonding. This study contributes to the wellness tourism literature by highlighting the heterogeneity of experiential meanings and by demonstrating the usefulness of Q methodology in exploring subjective wellness perceptions. The findings also offer practical implications for designing differentiated, participant-centered temple stay programs.
