본 연구는 2016년부터 2025년까지 최근 10년간 국내 KCI 등재 및 등재후보 학술지에 게재된 모래놀이치료 연구의 동향을 분석하였다. 주요 학술 데이터베이스(RISS, KISS, DBpia, Google Scholar)에서 ‘모래놀이치료’를 검색어로 논문을 수집하였으며, 선정 기준에 따라 총 240편을 최종 분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 분석은 연구방법, 연구유형, 연구대상 특성, 주호소(증상), 상징 범주를 중심으로 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 양적 연구가 83편(34.58%)이었으며 양적 연구 중 프로그램연구가 66편(79.52%)으로 가장 높은 비율을 차지하였다. 프로그램 연구의 연구대상은 여성 참여자가 남성보다 많았으며, 개인보다 집단을 대상으로 한 연구가 많았다(48편, 72.73%). 연령에서는 유⋅아동이 가장 높은 비율을 보였고, 주호소는 불안과 우울을 포함한 내재화 문제가 가장 많이 보고되었다. 또한 질적 연구는 157편(65.42%)으로 양적 연구보다 높은 비중을 차지였으며, 이 중 상징 연구의 비율이 가장 높았다. 연구대상은 아동이 가장 많았고, 여성 참여자가 남성보다 더 많은 경향이 나타났다. 주호소(증상)는 불안⋅우울을 포함한 내재화 문제가 가장 많았으며 사회적 어려움과 주의집중 문제가 그 뒤를 이었다. 상징 분석에서는 동물, 자연/자연물, 구조물, 판타지, 용기(container) 범주의 상징이 반복적으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 최근 국내 모래놀이치료 연구의 축적 양상과 주요 연구 특성을 종합적으로 제시함으로써, 향후 연구에서 방법론적 다양화와 보다 폭넓은 경험적 검증의 필요성을 제안한다.

This study analyzed research trends in sandplay therapy published in domestic KCI-indexed and KCI candidate journals over the past decade (2016–2025). A total of 240 articles were collected from major academic databases (RISS, KISS, DBpia, and Google Scholar) using the keyword “sandplay therapy” and selected according to predefined criteria. The analysis focused on research methods, research types, participant characteristics, presenting problems, and symbolic categories. Among the studies, 83 (34.58%) used quantitative methods, with program-based studies accounting for the largest proportion (66 studies, 79.52%). These studies mainly involved children and were more frequently conducted in group settings, with female participants appearing more often than males. Qualitative studies accounted for 157 articles (65.42%), with symbolic studies representing the largest share. Internalizing problems such as anxiety and depression were the most common presenting issues. Symbolic analysis frequently identified animals, natural objects, structures, fantasy elements, and containers. These findings provide an overview of recent research trends in sandplay therapy in Korea and suggest the need for greater methodological diversity and broader empirical investigation in future studies.
