본 연구는 한국과 중국의 시니어 대상 온라인 실버 교육 과정에 대해 논의하였다. 주요 연구 대상은 한국의 ‘EBS 평생 학교’와 중국의 ‘국가 노인대학(国家老年大学) 클라우드 교실(云课堂)’의 온라인 강좌이며, 이를 학습 환경, 교육 콘텐츠, 운영 방식 세 가지 측면에서 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 학습 환경 측면에서 평생 학교는 EBS 방송사의 특성상 TV 송출을 중심으로 하되, 온라인, 모바일 환경에서도 강의를 수강할 수 있다. 클라우드 교실은 TV 채널이 따로 없으며 중국의 대중 메신저앱인 위챗(Wechat)에서 모바일 중심의 라이브 수업이 이루어지며, 이후 수업을 온라인, 모바일 환경에서 수강할 수 있다. 둘째, 교육 콘텐츠 측면에서 평생 학교는 8개 주제의 시니어 특화 강좌를 약 200개 강좌 가까이 보유하고 있으며, 클라우드 교실은 중국 전역의 개방대학(开放大学) 강좌를 수강할 수 있도록 연동하였으나, 시니어 중점 대표 강좌는 소수로 운영하고 있다. 셋째, 운영 방식 측면에서 평생 학교는 유료 서비스로 제공되며, 구독형으로 강의를 수강, 강의 평가와 피드백 등 수강생과 교수자의 상호 교류가 제한적이다. 클라우드 교실은 사용자 인증을 거친 후, 무료 서비스로 제공되며, 학점 신청을 통해 강의를 수강, 강의 평가와 피드백 창구가 활발하게 운영되고 있는 편이다. 그러나 두 국가 모두 노인 대상 실버 교육 대부분은 비학력 교육의 형태이며, 중국 국가 노인대학은 일부 학력 인증 강좌도 개설되어 있다.

This study discusses online educational curricula for seniors in Korea and China. The primary subjects of analysis are the online courses of ‘EBS Lifelong School’ in Korea and the ‘National Open University for the Elderly(国家老年大学) Cloud Classroom(云课堂)’ in China. These programs were analyzed across three dimensions: learning environment, educational content, and operational methods.

The findings are as follows: First, regarding the learning environment, EBS Lifelong School focuses on TV broadcasting, reflecting its origins, while also providing access via online and mobile platforms. In contrast, the Cloud Classroom does not have a dedicated TV channel; instead, it offers mobile-centered live classes through Wechat, China’s popular messaging app, with subsequent access available on online and mobile devices.

Second, in terms of educational content, EBS Lifelong School offers nearly 200 senior-specific courses across eight themes. The Cloud Classroom is integrated with courses from open universities across China, yet it maintains a relatively small number of representative courses specifically focused on seniors.

Third, concerning operational methods, EBS Lifelong School operates as a paid subscription service, with limited interaction between students and instructors regarding evalutions and feedback. The Cloud Classroom is provided as a free service following user authentication; it allows students to apply for credits and maintains active channels for course evaluations and feedback.

Notably, in both countries, the majority of “silver education” for elderly takes the form of non-degree programs, although the National Open University for the Elderly in China does offer some degree-granting courses.
