본 연구는 노인의 신체적 기능상태가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 과정에서 우울의 매개효과와 가족지지의 조절된 매개효과를 검증하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 보건복지부와 한국보건사회연구원이 실시한 2023년 노인실태조사 자료를 활용하여 만 65세 이상 노인 6,457명을 분석하였다. 분석방법은 SPSS 25.0과 프로세스 마이크로(PROCESS macro) 4.2를 활용하여 수행되었으며, 매개효과는 모델 4, 조절된 매개효과는 모델 14를 통해 검증하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 신체적 기능상태는 삶의 만족도에 통계적으로 유의한 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 우울은 신체적 기능상태와 삶의 만족도 간의 관계를 부분매개하는 것으로 검증되었다. 셋째, 우울을 매개로 한 간접효과는 가족지지 수준에 따라 달라지는 조절된 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 노인의 삶의 만족도가 신체적 기능상태, 심리적 상태, 가족지지라는 다차원적 요인의 상호작용 속에서 형성됨을 시사한다.
