20세기의 무분별한 개발에 따른 환경파괴에 대한 범세계적인 자성에서 비롯된 교토의정서 체결(2005.2.16)에 의한 “환경친화 아니면 생존 어렵다”라는 국제사회의 인식공유는 환경이 국제 경쟁력이라는 환경보전을 명분으로 한 EU 등 지역경제블록의 다자간 협약으로 유해물질이 없고, 재활용이 용이한 환경친화 디자인만을 수입 허용하는 친환경디자인의 무관세화의 협의라는 21세기 친환경 라이프스타일 및 건강한 소비 트렌드가 확대되고 있는 실정이다. 이미 보편적인 소비문화로 확산되고 있는 미국, EU 등의 선진국에서는 “로하스라이프스타일”이 소비 트렌드를 주도하고 있으며, 저비용, 고효율의 목적으로 한 디자인 개발의 결과로 현대인의 새로운 라이프 패러다임으로 장착하고 있다. 그러나 국내 환경정책은 이러한 세계적 동향에 따른 환경의 중요성 인식부족과 대응초보단계(2013년부터 대한민국 교토의정서 의무적용)로서 보다 적극적이고 민첩한 대처방안이 시급한 상황이다. 특히, 환경친화디자인의 부분적이고 보편적인 지식으로의 접근은 총체적인 환경친화디자인의 개념이 아닌 혼돈스럽고, 추상적인 개념으로 연결되기 쉽다. 이에 본 연구는 환경친화적 디자인의 개념을 국내, 외 환경표준제도의 주요특징에서 예측해 보았고, 이러한 개념이 현재 실내디자인 요소들, 즉 가구, 조명, 재료 등에서 어떻게 자연스러운 디자인스타일로 확산되어 자리 잡고 있는지를 환경친화적 개념 속에서 관찰해 봄으로써 이러한 경향의 시대적 인식의 재조명과 필요성을 살펴보는 것에 궁극적인 목적을 두었고, 특히 물리적 순환이 가능한 재료의 개발 및 활성화에 의한 재활용(Recycle),자원의 원형 혹은 부분적 분리 및 재환원이 가능하도록 개발하는 재사용(Reuse)과 에너지효율의 극대화 및 사용 환경의 최적화에 의한 자원절감(Reduce) 등의 3R 개념이 적극적으로 디자인한 사례들을 중심으로 살펴보았다.
The environment friendly design consist of the characteristics of recycling, reusing items and source reduction.1. Recycling turns materials that would otherwise become waste into valuable resources 2. Reusing items - by repairing them, donating them to charity and community groups, or selling them -also reduces waste. 3. Waste prevention, or "source reduction," means consuming and throwing away less. This Study was written as part of the trend of the furniture design which environment friendly was applied to can minimize the environmental Burden through the Resources and Energy Consumption Reduction and Cyclic Utilization within the earth Ecosystem, and proceed to the Presentation of the Possibility to solve the recent environmental problems. This study of 3R(Recycle, Reuse, Reduce) tries to define what the environment friendly materials are, to investigate and to classify them, in order to provide some guidelines for selecting them at plans to build. For examples, the materials can be classified into natural materials, continuously usable materials, recycled materials from wastes, and less polluting materials mixed with natural matters. Finally, this study reviews the existing products in the market and proposes to develop new ones in the future. It will present the circulation of resources in the 21century through recycled and reused materials.
