본 고는 한국 청소년상담의 발전과정에 대해 살펴보고, 이후 미래사회에서 청소년상담의 새로운 방향 설정을 위한 화두를 던지는 데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 ‘청소년’의 범주에 대한 이해, ‘청소년 상담’의 개념과 목표, 체제 및 내용 변화를 중심으로 간략히 정리했다. 그 결과, ‘청소년’이라는 범주는 시대적 상황 및 사회적 관점에 따라 변화하고 있으며, 청소년 상담의 개념과 목표도 이와 맞물려 끊임없이 달라졌음을 확인할 수 있었다. 다음으로, 청소년상담 체제를 구축하고 성장시키는 과정에서 청소년상담 참여자들의 특성과 다루어지는 내용이 어떻게 달라지는지 살펴보고, 몇 가지 질문을 도출하였다. 코로나19 팬데믹 이후 급격한 사회적 변화를 앞둔 지금, 의미 있는 고민을 통해 상담학계 구성원들이 시대적 흐름을 읽고 변화에 대응함으로써, 청소년 상담 영역을 더욱 발전시키기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this paper is to review the development process of youth counseling in Korea and to raise a topic for setting a new direction for youth counseling in the future society. To this end, it has been briefly summarized focusing on understanding the category of ‘youth’, the concept and goal of ‘youth counseling’, and changes in the system and content. As a result, it was confirmed that the category of ‘youth’ is changing according to the times and social perspectives. Either the concept and goal of youth counseling have also changed constantly in line with this. Also, in the process of establishing and growing youth counseling system, how the contents covered changes and the characteristics of youth counseling participants were examined, and some questions were derived. In the face of rapid social change after the COVID-19 pandemic, we expect that members of the counseling academia will further develop the youth counseling field by reading the times and responding to changes.
